While he might not quite have a Tom Brady-level resume, Alex Smith still has had quite the NFL career. The quarterback entered the league as the first-overall pick of the 2005 draft; he was hit or miss with the 49ers, found his footing with the Chiefs, and then suffered a horrific injury in Washington, D.C. He’s since returned to the field, though, and has earned almost $190 million.
Three-time Olympic medalist and American skiing icon Lindsey Vonn might be competing in Formula One racing today if not for one rule she couldn't agree to at this point in her life.
Vonn, who turns 36 years old in October and is engaged to current New Jersey Devils star P.K. Subban, explained what prevented her from racing during a recent appearance on 'In Depth with Graham Bensinger.'
'I was thinking about switching, going to Formula One,' Vonn said, per TMZ Sports. 'Like actually trying to be a racer, a driver. But, I couldn't because they wanted me to commit, what was it, three years? And, they're like 'you can't get pregnant, you can't do anything.' I'm like 'hmm, I don't know if I really want to do that.'
'I don't think you understand,' she says she was told. 'You have to fully commit.' And I'm like 'hmm, OK. I guess I'm not doing that.'
Vonn added that Red Bull Racing would've presented her with an opportunity to compete in Formula One, and that she also would've pursued driving in NASCAR.
